POEMS TO ENJOY

Hey guys! here are three poems for you to read! enjoy!

If I could turn the world around
BY SARAY GOMEZ
If I could turn the world around I would do change some things. But how would I do that? That is something you’ll have to read. I can turn the world around by singing the song that comes from my heart and by adding some effort to accomplish my dream.  If I could turn the world around I would like to make everybody happy with what they have because some kids don’t have. And it’s not the computers the ones that help so the family and the love is what we should love the most. More than computers and tablets and iphones and ipads we should be happy with ourselves!

 The meaning of Christmas
Some kids think that Christmas is all about the presents but it’s not.  What is Christmas about? Christmas is about being with your family and sharing the fabulous moments. The night you are most excited about is called Christmas and in Christmas most of the people are happy.

Blue I’m feeling, blue I’m staying
Every time the sky is blue, I feel blue too. Every time I don’t get rewarded I feel blue. If sometimes I feel blue, I feel like crying and wreaking things. And if I’m in the dark blue mood, I feel like disappearing like if I want more justice. Being blue is the path to sadness, to discrimination. And being dark blue is the path to never getting to the end of the tunnel. If I stay blue, there will be no more happiness for me.

Segregation and Leaders

Segregation
Segregation was an important time in history, which everyone remembers. Segregation was the time when all the people didn’t get equal rights. The black people sit down to think of it all the time, and how they’re ancestors we’re mistreated in the early times. Good luck that we had, that are human leaders have fought to make a difference.

·        Susan B. Anthony was a leader who fought and sacrificed so that women could vote.

·        Rosa Parks, also did sit- ins so that black people wouldn't have to give they’re seats away on the bus and other rights.
\
·        Martin Luther King, fought so that black people could get also like Rosa parks, get the same respect.

Now you know why these leaders have helped us make our country, a better place. And if you want to, you can write a good paragraph about segregation and the leaders who made it go away.

Emily's Story

Hello! here we'll have a view of the first ten chapters of my new book. I'll continue writing and posting new chapters every once in a while. Hope you like the story! And it's not finished yet!

        To my daddy

A story about a girl who was born in New York but then moved to India. Meeting a boy who is her best friend. Once her best friend gets really sick, she on a quest to find the medicine flower to save him. After a tremendous storm in the beach she lands on an island. once there she will need to use her abilities to survive and also use the help from her amulet and the animals. Will she get to save her best friend or will she get trapped in the island forever?

Chapter 1
Crying and suffering
E
mily, a town girl, sat down staring at the window where she could see the only one she had, her father die. Crying in major fear she started to scream. Her father, her papa, her dad, the only thing she had were gone. Now that her mama was dead and her sisters and her grandpa and everybody else too, she was about to be an orphan. It was 1953 and the clock was ticking. By a stroke of luck she was close to an orphan where she will present herself. She went out of her house, making sure that she told her father first, and crossed the street. There was the orphan, it looked the opposite of what Emily was used to seeing things, all happy and peppy. In exchange this orphan looked sad and dangerous. She knocked at the door, her face, eyes and nose red. A handsome, serious man opened the door. He was wearing a black tuxedo and black skinny jeans with some elegant men shoes.
“Excuse me, I lost my father I have anyone, what am I supposed to do?” Emily said crying with still, some tears on her delicate eyes.
“I know that you came here for a purpose, but this is not the right place to go, if you want to safe yourself you should go to a special school I heard about. I’ll drive you to your house, you’ll pack up all your things

and we will leave. Me and you will act like if I’m your papa and I will pay the school for you” the man answered
Emily sniffed “I’m sorry, I’m confused. Are you saying that your doing all of this for me?”
“Yes I am, when I was little like you I went through a similar situation. My name is Albert and I’m glad to help!” he said with a grin
Emily smiled back and said this word thank you. Reader, do you know how powerful this word is? Do you really know the appropriate time of when to say it? The answer is, you say it when someone has done something nice to you, when you know that you need to repay, to do something back because of that person’s good actions.
Like Albert had instructed she packed her things and got in the car. Through the windows she could see poor people, just like she was. A homeless person (she was not poor before, she was poor now). But she was soon to find another thing, a thing that she had never had expected.

“Mr. Albert, do—do you think I can ever stop suffering?” Emily asked
“Well, no until you find another family that takes care of you. I promise that when I’m done with my 2 week New York work, you will come with me to India and there you’ll have a new family. I promise.”
And reader, I know that your thinking, did Emily’s parents ever warned her about strangers? Yes they did. But Albert wasn’t going to do anything bad to Emily. If you read on, you’ll see how.
“India?” Emily murmured
“I don’t get it” she said again
“Yes. India, there, there is no wars, or suffering. India is the place where you live in little made-of-wood houses and you have animals to your side” Albert said and what he was saying was true. After meeting Albert Emily had more hope, maybe Albert will give her happiness again or nothing. But again, for that answer you need to read on.

Chapter 2
Changing the mind
W
hen Albert and Emily got to the school he thought of and idea and told Emily about it.
“Dear Emily, I have another idea, instead of taking you to this school I can bring you to my job. I think my manager won’t mind but I think you’ll need to help me with the job. But don’t worry it’s not hard!”
“I agree, and think it’s a good idea Mr. Albert”
“Don’t call me Mr. Albert sun shine. Call me papa! You’ll soon see why”
“Why?”
“Little spring flower let me just ask you something. Do you really know what a dad is?”
“I think I do know. A dad is the one that was dating your mom when you were born”
“Nice try! But that is not the right answer. A dad is the one that takes care of you, and loves you and helps you. And by that I’m not saying

that your dad is not your dad because he died, he will always take care of you. I’m saying that from now on, I’ll be the one taking care of you and loving you.”
“Thank you for the definition papa, and for what you are doing”
“Can I tell you a story? Little muffed?
“Sure!”
“Well, when I was little I had no family. And like you, the only one I had was my dad, he died on the American war and I was alone with nobody to take care of me. I had really bad times and  starved a lot, lucky me that some people had organizations that donated money, food and things to charity, that’s how I survived. Then when I was 17 years old I met this amazing, united family which I stayed with. Once I had joined them, I had a job and everything I wanted. And when I met you I realized that you were about to go through what I went through, so instead of making you wait, I’m doing it now!” and reader that was the story that Albert had told Emily.
Once they got to Albert’s job, it was time to get to work. Emily’s job was to welcome the customers, to help clean and assist some customers. But she was not a servant, she only worked and in reward she had a place to live and a plate full of food everyday. An example of a Monday breakfast will be a breakfast sandwich, containing a warm, fluffy sandwich top and bottom, some breakfast meat (not so much the

meat that you eat for dinner) accompanied with melted cheese and warm ham. If she was not full after the sandwich she will get a pancake with some raspberries and white sugary cream. An example of dinner is mashed potatoes with some salad, and for dessert a mini chocolate bar. And the example of dinner will be a special soup made from a special girl, Emily. The soup contained chicken liquid, mini cheese slices, some meat and some garlic. Everyday they both, papa and Emily had to work hard everyday. But today was different. Papa had gotten sick and couldn’t work. After the first week, Emily realized that she loved her pa (Albert) a lot, and she wanted to help him. Once Emily noticed that pa was sick she helped a lot. For the morning, Emily cooked her stop-sickness-soup (a recipe from her mother) so that papa could get better. Then she attended some customers. The first one was named Elena, her clothes were scratched and her face was dirty.  Their conversation went like this.
Emily: welcome to the orphan! May I help you with something?
Elena: yes please, this is one of my girls. I’m trying to find her a family because were poor and I want the best for her, I don’t want her to suffer. That’s what parents feel like, you know.
Emily: don’t worry, we will take care of her until we find a family for her. We’ll also make sure that the family is the best one we can find.
Elena: thank you so much. Blessings to you all, and now I will leave…
Emily: wait! Here, take some food, and this blanket. I noticed that your poor and I feel sorry for you
Elena: thank you! I’ll never forget about how much you have helped me!
And that’s how Emily attended all the customers (she didn’t give all of them something, only for the ones who really needed it)
The next day, papa was better and they were ready to work together again.

Chapter 3
The last week of work
T
oday it was the 2nd Thursday, this meant that they were leaving on Sunday. Emily couldn’t wait to see India and help there, she loved to help, and that’s for sure. Today there was no more food on the refrigerator, so Emily decided to go to the super market. Her papa, warned her many times and told her to be careful, and she was. As she was going to the super market she walked and talked to nobody. The thing is that she was very nice, and when she a poor family asking for somebody to buy a flower, Emily went as fast as lightning to the super market and used the coins she had left to buy a piece of bread. When she was done, instead of walking straight home, she gave the poor family a piece of bread, and bought a flower from them, the family was very thankful but Emily was not done yet. “Papa! Papa! Papa! It’s our last week of work! But I can’t leave without doing a favor to a poor family” Emily said
“Hello Emily! What favor and family are you talking about?” papa said.
And that’s how Emily told papa about the poor family.
“Since this happened, maybe, I can build them a house and give them help. But not a tremendous house, a made of wood house and I can ask the police officers and the government to lend them some help. C’mon it’s our last week, we need to help!” Emily replied

“Wow Emily, your heart is filled with hope and goodness for everybody, and I accept, let’s surprise that family before we live! Let’s get to work!” papa said. And so they started writing to the government and started to build the house. In three days, they had everything done. The family thanked them with the biggest smile, after that papa and Emily went back to the orphan.
“Sunshine, I guess it’s time to pack are bags, we’re leaving in three days” papa said
“Yes, I had a great time in the orphan, and a great time helping the family too.” Emily said
“Thank you papa for all you have done to help me. The first day I was hurt, without even knowing me you kept me and I know that you don’t do that with every child, now you are officially my papa that is alive” Emily said with a grin on her face.
And so, the three days past and it was time to go to India.

Chapter 4
Describing the characters
I
n this chapter I will stop the story and describe the characters that I didn’t get to describe.
To begin with I’ll describe Emily.
Emily rainbow is a ten year old girl, with long blond hair as shiny as silver stars, and has a little bit of tan miniature freckles on her face. She is normal size, her lips are red, her skin is tan, and her favorite colors are red and white. Papa knew how much she loved those colors so he bought her all her clothes in red and white. She was born in New York. She was also born in April 22, 1943. When she used to go to New York professional Elementary school, she was the best student in the whole entire school; she was also voted the most beautiful in a pretty contest, where all the New York professional Elementary students voted so that most beautiful girl will be the uniform model of the school. But now she was leaving New York.
And so now I’ll describe Albert, the one that we are calling papa.
Papa is a 27 year old man; he has black short hair that covers one of his shining dark blue eyes. His skin color is tan, just like Emily’s, he is also a

normal size man, and his face is all clear. His lips are the color that any man can have. His favorite colors are neon green and red. But he didn’t wear them very often, in fact when he worked, the only colors he could wear were black, white, and red if he had a rose.   He was born in March 15, 1926 1:13 a.m. and no, he had no popular experience in school.
So now that you know the descriptions of the main characters I’m able to move on with the story!

Chapter 5
A village to the sky
I
t was Sunday, 1:00 p.m and Emily and papa were ready to go to India. Before she left she wrote on her diary
Dear diary, this two weeks, since my father died I have been living with somebody who is really nice. But now he is going to take me to India, but what if I was wrong and when I realize there is no way back? I don’t know what to do. Could you please father, my father who is dead help me?
And in that exact moment, Emily fainted. While she was in her cause by nerves dream, she saw her father which talked to her and said the following
“My dear child, I ’m so sorry I left you, and your mama left you too. But  I know that you can beat that, look here, at this amazing place, where me and your mama are living happily ever after” her father said
“But, what about my happily ever after?” Emily answered
“You came here for another purpose, now what is it?”
“I came here because I met a guy who takes care of me like if he was my papa, and now he wants to make to India. Should I trust him?

“That is a question I can’t answer, all I can say is follow what your heart says”
“Can I ask god then?”
“No, do what I told you to do, if you really love that man you should go with him, if not you should not, goodbye”
“But father, I’m not done yet, please, please. Don’t be a jerk and help me like a father is supposed to do” Emily said, in discouragement
But it was too late, father was gone and she had already woken up.
“Why, does father doesn’t want to talk to me, or respect me? I guess that now that he’s at the sky with mama, he doesn’t want anyone to interrupt him” Emily said
And reader, that was true, once Emily’s father was in heaven, he didn’t care about her anymore.
“Please, Emily faint, please faint, I want to talk to mama”
But like you know that didn’t happen.
“C’mon Emily” came a voice from not so far away
“C’mon or we are going to be late”
“Papa! Please come to my room, please!”
“Okay honey”

He arrived to the room, and sat gingerly like if the bed was made of glass, he didn’t want to break it because it wasn’t his bed.
“What’s wrong?” papa asked
“Papa, not to freak you out, but I-I fainted two minutes ago. And there, above the glimmer stars, above the sky, above the clouds I saw my father, the one who died. I asked him about going to India but he didn’t help me in neither ways, my mama wasn’t present and I couldn’t get to ask her.”
“Wait, did you just say that you’re afraid to go to India with me?”
“I just wanted to make sure that I was not about to make a mistake, where you trust the stranger and then he does something bad to you”
“It’s normal that you feel like that, but I’m not a stranger, I’m going to give you a mama, a family”
“I’m sorry, I made a big deal out of something I wouldn’t even have to worry about”
“We have fixed it, now scurry to that car, quickly!”
And so they left, in the village to India, where this girl is about to find something unexpected.

Chapter 6
Off New York, a new life in India
T
hey got in the car, and read till they finally got to the airport. After a 2 hour village to the airport they got off the car and gave it to a delivery man, who will give it back to its owner. And so they waited until the plain was back on track, to pick them up. They went through the rusty road that was as black as a midnight moon. When they got off the plain, all they could do was read or just stare at the window. Like I told this story is taking place in long, long, long, long, long ago, and so they had very different planes as the ones that we have now. The ones in that year we’re small, didn’t go that fast, didn’t have the same speed etc. etc. etc. I guess you can do a van diagram out of this!
Then, finally, after 5 hours on the plane, they got to India. The plane left them on a colorful beach called Swanna Lebu, its trees green and tall, the big beach entrance doors decorated by every type of color handkerchiefs, which were decorated by golden dots around them. The beach’s sand was a golden color just like the dots in the handkerchiefs but a little bit lighter. And the ocean, and the ocean, and the ocean was torques and clean. You could even see the little fish go around when they passed by. And finally, in the beach there were some rocks that covered an island. The rocks were big, fat, grayish rocks that refused to the light of the sun.
“Papa, papa, what’s inside those big, fat, grayish rocks over there?” Emily asked, she was curious about what might be inside the rocks
“Ye got to check it out by yourself” papa answered
So Emily got inside the water. She started putting one of her feet first, then she put two, then she got in and started to swim.
“Papa! Papa! Papa! The water is awesome! Have you checked it out? It is really good, and it feels good when you swim on clean water! C’mon get in papa!” Emily cried
“Okay, but just to make sure that nothing happens to you” papa answered, as he got into the water
And reader, it was true, the water was splendid. When papa got into the water, they started swimming, and every time they did a little swim or splish and splash they got closer to the island. And there when they got there, when they got there, when they got there. In middle of all the rocks, inside the rock doors there was sand, an island. And sitting on that island there was a little made of wood house, with flowers around it, and the house was open, waiting for somebody to check it out.
“Papa! Look! Look! Look! Look! Look! A house! Is this going to be where we will sleep?’ Emily screamed as loud as she could, even though her father was 2 feet away from her.
“But wait” she said quietly
“Where is my mama? My sisters?” she asked, with an unsatisfied face.
“I’m afraid that you don’t have a sister, but you have a mama!, we’ll go and meet her today” papa answered
“Good! I have a mama! But I still don’t have a sister”
“Still, can we go now?” Emily said, waking herself up of her dream
“Now? Not now, after I finish mi nap” papa answered as he went inside the hut, where they will be leaving.”
And so, Emily was left alone. But she didn’t want to stay there bored, she wanted to have fun. So she climbed out of the little island and started swimming in direction of the shore, Emily didn’t notice, but there, right there in a tiny corner was a boy, about the same age as her, waiting for Emily to reach the shore. This boy’s name was Jason also known as DJ and art maniac (because he loved art)
Emily went out of the water, and Jason approached to her.
“Excuse me, are you new here? I don’t seem to know you” Jason said
“You’re right, I’m new here, and I don’t know you” Emily answered
“My name is Jason” Jason said
“My name is Rainbows, Emily Rainbows” Emily talked back
Emily stepped up and sat next to Jason, and they talked and talked. They talked out a conversation that will make them friends, and if the time went on, best friends.
Jason was a little bit taller than Emily was, he had thick light brown hair and tan skin. He was born in America, but came to live in India for an unknown reason. He was very nice, his heart was full of light and kindness, his brown eyes showed that his heart was light, no dark in it, except for the fact that he had left his family that now lived far, far away.
Now it was the 2nd week that Emily had been in India, and so today, was her first day of school. She first, had never thought that the school she was going to, will include a best friend of hers and in her class. And who would that friend be? Reader, if you don’t know the answer you must reread the last page, you must be able to answer this question. I’ll give you 5 seconds to think. 1 second, 2 seconds, 3 seconds, 4 seconds, 5 seconds. Done? The answer is, that friend, that person was Jason. If I may tell you, Emily was amazed that the only friend she had was there, right next to the empty spot in the classroom, right next to the only empty spot. And reader, to finish up this chapter, this is the new life in India, that Emily will have, and how because of meeting Jason other things happened to her. So remember that you must always read on.

Chapter 7
 A friend
S
o Emily went on and entered the classroom.
“Come in, welcome my name is Mrs. Susu, and you will sit right next to ummm, Jason!” Mrs. Susu said
“Okay” Emily answered
And so she sat down in her table, listening to the teacher the lessons and trying to learn to speak in Indian. After lessons, it was time to go. Emily knew she was in parent pick-up but papa was not there, and that’s when Jason approached.
“Emily!” he shouted
“Where is your papa?” he asked
“He doesn’t seem to be here yet” Emily said
“Well I thought I could show a secret place, where we could have some fun”
“okay, but only because I trust you” Emily said
“Let’s go!” they both said at the same time
Jason took the lead, they went through a long beach path, and while they were walking they talked, they talked about the place. Finally after 15 minutes of beach walking they saw a big rock that looked like a skeleton head.
“This is it, come climb it with me, let’s get in top of the rock!” Jason shouted
“Okay!” Emily shouted back
And when they both got to the top, they saw the beach and the ocean behind them. And reader, they were, like nobody else could be best friends. And they had big fun. Talking and laughing and dancing around on the top o the rock.
After that day, Emily couldn’t see Jason, so she looked for him, but while she was walking she bumped into a big, fat guy whose name was Oreo.
“I’m really sorry” Emily said
“And I will not forgive you, ugly mucous girl, why did you come to this school? Well it doesn’t matter I’m going to”
Jason went running and stopped Oreo’s words
“What were you doing, your not allowed to bully you know”
“No I was not”
“shhhh! Do not talk to me or her, get out of our sight” Jason said and bully ran away.
“Thank you” Emily said
“Your welcome” Jason talked back
“I guess that tomorrow, you can come over my house and play!” Emily said
“Sure!” Jason said with a big smile on his face
The next, it was three o’clock in the afternoon and Emily was waiting for Jason to come over. While she was waiting she thought about how Jason had protected her from the bully, even though that meant him being bullied next. She also thought about how nobody had done that to her before, but the bad news were about to be announced.
And here reader is where we finish our chapter, with Emily waiting for Jason.

Chapter 8
The bad news
P
apa rushed into Emily’s room.
“Emily!” he shouted, he was crying, he looked discombobulated.
“Yes, papa?!?!” she shouted back
“This might hurt you but Jason, my best friend’s son, has fallen down with something, he is very sick, with other news, we are going to visit your mama” papa said, still crying
“Wait! Before I visit mama, I need to go and see Jason first!” she shouted
“Okay, let’s go, get inside the boat!” papa answered
And so they got into the boat and reached the hospital. There in a little room was Jason, with wires inside his nose, it cost him to breath.
When Emily approached the room everybody was looking.
“May I please have some privacy? After all I deserve it!” Emily asked
And everybody left the room. Emily sat next to Jason.
“This is not fair, please tell me you won’t die” Emily said with a tear falling down her eyes.
Reader even though I haven’t told you, Jason and Emily did favors to each other, Jason protecting Emily from the bully was just an example and Emily did the same things to him. After all, that’s why they were best friends.
“I don’t know, the doctor said I need to get a specific medicine that’s is far away from here, if not I will die” Jason said trying to catch his breath
“I’ll do it, where do I find it?” Emily said with courage
“You must not go, it’s too dangerous!” Jason said, again trying to catch his breath
“I have to save you, hold my hand and promise me that you will still be alive when I get back”
“I will, I’ll do my best for my promise to become true” Jason said coughing.

And so it had started a bad news day, turning from the most wonderful thing a tragedy.
Before Emily left, she wanted to stay with him for at least five minutes so that if she didn’t come back at least she would have said bye to him.
“Just in case, thank you for this wonderful friendship, company and laughing and fun time. And if you die, I promise that nobody will replace your place, nobody will ever be like you are to me. Jason, you are one of the best things that has ever happened to me”
And those words, reader, were for now the last words that Emily said to his best friend.
I’m afraid that this will be enough for this chapter, leaving Jason at the hospital and going with Emily’s adventure to find a medicine flower. And at least, there was a little bit of hope in finding the medicine flower, a little bit of hope.

Chapter 9
Ready to go
So Emily gave her last bye-bye to Jason and left the hospital.
“Wait Emily! Wait!” shouted a voice from behind
“Yes?!?!” Emily shouted back
“It’s me, papa. I’ll let you leave, but not without this” he said as he approached Emily and at the same time taking a purple amulet out of his pocket
“Without what?” Emily asked
“This amulet will aid you in your search, and don’t ask me how. Also, I want you to have this clothes and things, they are all in this book back” he said, as he took all the stuff out. Emily looked inside. There were some old clothes, a blanket, and a pillow. The blanket was black and thick while the pillow was white and puffy. She gave papa a hug and finally left.
She walked for miles, till’ she finally got to an old boat that could still swim. She got in the boat and it started move. But the weird thing is that there was no wind, noting that could move the boat, and by this amazement instead of gasping she fainted. There, she saw again heaven. But instead of her dad visiting her, her mom was in front of her face.
“Mom!” Emily screamed crying
“Emily!” her mom shouted back as she ran to give her daughter a hug.
“Please put on the amulet your papa gave you” she said
“Yes mama, I’ll do whatever you want. And I never want to separate from your arms, from your hugs” she put on the amulet.
“Can I ask question?”
“Whatever my love” her mama answered
“How did the boat move like that, without anything?”
“Look at your amulet, it does its magic when you need its help, so from now on, don’t get amazed. It helps you because you’re doing this to save your best friend’s live, which I clearly know that you love” explained her mom
“I don’t love him. I love him like a friend. I mean, I have never met a kid that had such a filled with light heart, and that’s why I want to save his life, yeah, I love him, I love him like a best friend” Emily admitted
“Now get ready and put together all your power of strength, because your adventure is going to be epic!” and with the last smile of her mother, Emily woke up. A storm was going on, and she hadn’t even noticed.
“Well, I guess this will be my biggest adventure” Emily whispered to herself

Chapter 10
On the island
The storm was over, and Emily was in front of an island that looked like a jungle. Emily got out of the small boat and started walking. After looking under sand, burrows, and rocks it was the time to look in the jungle part. But before that, she wrote on her diary the following phrases
Dear diary, I’m stuck here in an island. How? A long story. My best friend is about to die from a terrible accident, and I’m here to try to find a medicine flower that will save him. This is a race against time. My dead mother and my new papa told me that the amulet I’m wearing will aid me on my search. I know it’s true because it has showed me one of the miracles it can do. I’ll write to you the next time something big happens. Thank you for paying attention to my words and keeping them safe.
After writing these words she stepped into the first inch of the jungle of the island. She kept walking. Once there, she saw trees, and animals. One monkey approached and said
“Hello new visitor!”
“Did the monkey just talk? Did I just herd him speak?” Emily said out loud in a confused voice
“mmm. Yeah! With that amulet you can talk to us and we can talk to you” the monkey answered “my name is Banana Split” he kept going
“Thank you for telling me Banana Split” Emily said
“I’m looking for a medicine flower; the name of the flower is Curesinisis. Do you know where I can find it?” Emily asked
“No, but maybe if we look for the wizard of the island he can give us the flower, I heard great rumors about him and his Curesinisis flowers”
“Thank you so much Banana split. When do we start?”
“I guess tomorrow” banana split said as he approached to a small made of wood house that was up in the tree
“This is house for human visitors that can talk to animals; you can use it to sleep” Banana split said

“Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!” Emily shouted and gave a goodnight kiss to Banana split.
